Maria and I were invited to a high tea at the palliative care Port Kembla yesterday. The day was a great day with plentiful cakes and sweets with the high tea and the volunteers did a wonderful job.
The best thing about the day was a chance meeting with Gloria Swift. Gloria was the breast cancer nurse for Wollongong hospital and she was responsible for setting up the breast cancer support group. she did a wonderful job at improving the lives of the breast cancer patients in Wollongong and the South coast. She also used the bus that the cancer carers donated to the breast cancer support group to go to country towns to give information and support to the country people.
Gloria now is fighting her own battle with cancer and she’s putting up a great fight.
We wish Gloria all the best for the future.
